Hi, I’m Laura!

Welcome to Laura Where She Lands!

I’m a 40-something solo traveler and content creator who decided it was time to stop waiting for the “perfect” moment and start creating a life that felt more like my own.

In 2026, I sold my house, moved into a studio apartment, and after 21 years in Corporate America, I decided it was time to step away from my 9-to-5 and pursue my passion for travel as a full-time content creator.

It was a big leap, but one that felt right. After years of building a life around what I thought I was supposed to do, I decided it was time to create a life I truly love.

This blog is where I share my solo adventures, travel stories, and everything I’ve learned along the way. Whether you’re dreaming about your first solo trip, looking for information about destinations I’ve been to, or simply curious about creating a life that feels more intentional, I hope you’ll follow along.

Where it all began…

In 2015, I was 31 years old and had pretty much no idea who I was. For years, I had been dreaming of traveling the world. I had lived in the same small town my entire life, and I wanted something more, something bigger.

I also had a deep interest in history, particularly World War II history. I wanted to go to Europe. I had never been. I couldn’t find anyone to go with me. It was either they couldn’t afford it right now, couldn’t take the time off, or were more interested in going to another all-inclusive resort.

Finally, I decided that maybe I didn’t actually need someone to go with me. Maybe I would be enough. So I took a chance and booked a flight.

I flew to Kraków, Poland. I fell in love with the Old Town and spent a couple of days sitting at cafes in the Rynek Główny. I visited Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Then I went to Prague. I fell more in love on the Charles Bridge.

Then I spent a week in Budapest and saw the Hungarian Parliament Building lit up against the night sky while I cruised down the Danube River. I was in love.

I knew after that trip I would never be the same. I had seen things, talked to people from all over the world, and eaten incredible food.

That solo trip changed my life. And I hope that someday, a solo trip will change your life too.

Thank you for being here
